Tour Description:
Embark on a spectacular sea kayaking adventure along the dramatic coast of Disko Island! This half-day guided excursion takes you from the black sand beach of Qeqertarsuaq to the breathtaking Kuannit area—famous for its otherworldly basalt columns and rugged beauty.
As we silently glide through the calm Arctic waters in two-person kayaks, you’ll be surrounded by a symphony of nature: floating icebergs drifting by, seabirds overhead, and—if we’re lucky—even sea mammals surfacing in the distance. The only sounds you’ll hear are the dipping paddles and the cascading springs tumbling down lush mountainsides.
Our route follows the coastline toward Kuannit, where volcanic activity from millions of years ago has sculpted a surreal landscape of twisting, columnar basalt formations. These geological wonders, combined with the blooming Angelica plants in midsummer, make Kuannit a truly magical destination.
Along the way, your guide will share insights about the local environment, wildlife, and Greenlandic coastal life—perhaps even pointing out local fishermen hauling in their catch. A support boat accompanies us the entire way for added safety and comfort.
This is a rare chance to experience Disko Island’s majestic coastline from sea level, under the endless Arctic sky.
